10 die as bus hits electricity wire

Ten people have died and another seven are injured after the bus they were travelling in hit an electric wire in India.

Officials said an iron ladder at the back of the bus became entangled in an 11,000-volt overhead wire.

The vehicle caught fire and the 10 victims died when a current ran through the bus as they tried to escape.

The passengers, most of them farmers and farm labourers, were on their way to a political meeting in Bhiwani at the time of the accident.
