Francis plans Archer book

The man whose revelations brought about the downfall of Lord Archer has said he plans to write a book about his experiences with the disgraced peer.

Ted Francis's original disclosures in the News of the World in 1999 led to Archer's disgrace and eventual imprisonment for perjury.

Mr Francis, 67, was cleared of perverting the course of justice at the same Old Bailey trial.

He said the memoir-style book would be written "as soon as possible".

He said: "It is partly to be able to get the whole business into a perspective. It is an examination of me and how I got into it....a bit of navel-gazing.

"There will be anecdotes about Jeffrey Archer and my experiences with him in the book."

Mr Francis said he hoped the book would "correct and contain some of the media hyperbole and exaggeration that has been published".
