Serial killer victory
Sobbing that ‘‘there’s no sense in keeping me alive’’, one of the first known female serial killers in the United States won a court victory in Florida in her bid to sack her lawyers and hasten her execution.
‘‘I am a serial killer. I would kill again,’’ 45-year-old Aileen Wuornos, facing six death sentences for killing middle-aged men while working as a prostitute, said on the witness stand in Daytona Beach.
Circuit Judge Michael Hutcheson said he would recommend to the Florida Supreme Court that Wuornos, on death row for nearly 10 years, was competent to make such a decision and told her it would put her on the ‘‘fast track’’ to be executed.
