Jeffrey Archer was today released from prison, two days after being jailed for four years for perjury and perverting the course of justice, to attend his mother’s funeral.

A white van with blacked out windows - believed to be carrying the disgraced peer - swept into Cambridge Crematorium at Madingley, shortly after the hearse carrying the coffin of his mother Lola arrived.

The memorial service for Jeffrey Archer’s mother will be held at the Parish church of St Andrew and St Mary in Grantchester at midday.
