Forest fire threatens Spanish tourist town
More than 300 people were evacuated from homes and hotels in a Costa del Sol tourist resort today when a forest fire engulfed the surrounding hills.
The fire began last night in a pine wood just outside Mijas.
Aided by strong winds, it spread rapidly toward the town.
As a preventative measure, authorities ordered the evacuation of local residents and tourists, but there are no reports of any damage in the town.
