Aston Martin in talks to tempt back Bond

Superspy James Bond could be back behind the wheel of an Aston Martin in the new 007 film due to be shot next year, it was disclosed today.

Aston Martin confirmed the company was in discussion with the film’s producers about Bond driving the new £158,000 Aston Martin Vanquish which goes on sale in the UK in August.

But Eon Productions said no decision had yet been made about which car would feature.

If the Bond people go for the Vanquish, it will mean a return to the Aston Martin marque for 007 following his flirtation in recent movies with the BMW.

Current Bond star Pierce Brosnan has driven BMWs in the 007 films Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough.

In the early days of the Bond series, 007 star Sean Connery drove an Aston Martin DB5 in the film Goldfinger. Timothy Dalton also drove an Aston Martin the Vantage Volante when he played Bond in The Living Daylights in 1987.

Aston Martin will make 200 of the 180mph Vanquish models this year and 300 next year. There is now a waiting list for the car which lasts until the middle of 2003.
