Divers begin work to raise stricken Kursk

A team of divers was today expected to begin preparation work on raising the wreck of the stricken Russian nuclear submarine Kursk, which sank last year with the loss of 118 lives.

They arrived above the location of the accident in the Barents Sea over the weekend, ahead of one of the most ambitious salvage operations in recent maritime history.
