French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin today announced a £1.15bn project to make high-speed Internet access available to all parts of France within five years.

As part of a far-reaching technology initiative, Government and industry will pool another £140m to bring mobile-phone service to the 8% of France that does not currently have it.
