Menem to go on trial for arms deals

Former Argentinian President Carlos Menem was indicted for illegal arms deals today and ordered to stand trial by a federal judge.

Judge Jorge Urso charged Menem with heading an ‘‘illicit organisation’’ that funnelled arms to Croatia in 1991 and Ecuador in 1995, despite international arms embargoes on both nations.
