Leaky oil hose blamed for fire on Baltic ferry

A leaking oil hose is thought to have been the cause of a fire on a Baltic ferry, according to German authorities.

It took the crew three hours to put out the fire and the vessel needed towing back to Sassnitz in Germany.

None of the 227 people on board was hurt in the incident.

All 169 passengers had assembled on the upper deck in lifejackets, but no evacuation was ordered.

The Sassnitz was just 25 miles from its destination in Sweden when the fire broke out in the engine room.
