At least 47 people were killed as a powerful earthquake shook southern Peru, sending dozens of homes, churches and buildings tumbling to the ground.

At least 47 people were killed as a powerful earthquake shook southern Peru, sending dozens of homes, churches and buildings tumbling to the ground.

About 30 people were injured in northern Chile, four of them seriously, the Government said. The quake was felt as far away as Bolivia.
