19 dead, hundreds injured as train plunges into river

At least 19 people were confirmed dead and more than 200 people were taken to hospital today after three carriages from a passenger train derailed and plunged into a river in the southern Indian state of Kerala, officials said.

According to sketchy reports coming in from the accident site, 19 bodies have been recovered from the Kadalundi River.
