Woman 'chased son through house before drowning him'
Police in Houston claim a woman accused of drowning her five children chased her final victim through the house before killing him.
Andrea Pai Yates drowned her seven-year-old son Noah in the bathtub next to the body of his six-month-old sister, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Noah entered the bathroom while Yates was drowning Mary, police say.
"What's wrong with Mary?" a police officer quoted Noah as asking.
Yates told investigators she first killed two-year-old Luke; second was three-year-old Paul and third was five-year-old John.
After each child was drowned she carried the limp child into a back bedroom, placed the child on a bed and covered the body with a sheet.
She left Noah's body in the bathtub.
Earlier on Thursday, Yates's husband, Russell, tearfully told reporters he wants to help his wife through the ordeal, blaming her actions on severe depression.
"I want to show her I love her and support her," he said.
‘‘The woman here is not the woman who killed my children.’’
His 36-year-old wife is charged with capital murder.
