Two killed in Southampton light aircraft crash

Two people were killed today when a light aircraft crashed near a sewerage treatment farm in Southampton, police said.

A spokeswoman for Southampton Police said the plane had taken off from Southampton International Airport and then crashed at 12.54pm.

She added that smoke was seen coming from the wreckage. Emergency services were called to the scene.
