Prime Minister Tony Blair today blamed an ‘‘anarchists’ travelling circus’’ for the violence which clouded an EU summit in Gothenburg, and urged fellow leaders not to ‘‘concede an inch’’ to the demonstrators.

Prime Minister Tony Blair today blamed an ‘‘anarchists’ travelling circus’’ for the violence which clouded an EU summit in Gothenburg, and urged fellow leaders not to ‘‘concede an inch’’ to the demonstrators.

‘‘I think it is very important that we don’t concede an inch to these people,’’ Mr Blair commented at the end of a two-day meeting disrupted by hundreds of rioters in clashes with police which left at least two people shot and injured.
