Police reveal location of mass grave site linked to Milosevic

Yugoslav police have revealed the site of a mass grave believed to contain dozens of bodies of ethnic Albanians.

The site is located at a police training camp in the Belgrade suburb.

Many observers argue the grave proves former president Slobodan Milosevic and his top aides, including current army commander, covered up war crimes.

Police Captain Dragan Karleusa said the grave, believed to contain the bodies of civilians killed in the southern Yugoslav province of Kosovo, is in the suburb of Batajnica, some 6 miles north east of the capital.

"So far we discovered one mass grave site of some 100 square metres and about 3 metres deep," Cpt Karleusa said.

Official TV footage showed a digger slowly removing brush and dirt from the site, and forensic technicians and archaeologists investigating dismembered body parts found in several deep holes.

Experts carefully examined a skull, bones and ragged clothing protruding from the dirt.

Last month, Interior Ministry officials announced that 86 bodies were found in a freezer truck dumped in the Danube River near the Romanian border in April 1999, hundreds of kilometres outside Kosovo.
