Barrymore questioned over pool death

Television comedian Michael Barrymore was today understood to be at a police station talking to officers investigating the death of a 31-year-old man at the star’s luxury home.

Barrymore, 48, was seen arriving at Harlow police station in Essex shortly before 9am.

Witnesses said the comedian arrived in an unmarked car and said nothing to waiting journalists.

Mr Barrymore has already twice spoken to police following the death of Stuart Lubbock, 31, in March.

The butchery worker was found floating in a swimming pool at the house in Roydon, near Harlow and died shortly afterwards.

At the time the police said the cause of death was drowning but officers have been waiting for the results of toxicology tests on Mr Lubbock’s body.

When asked today whether Mr Barrymore was with officers, a police spokesman said he could make no comment about any involvement.
