Film stardom awaits for Eminem

Controversial white rapper Eminem is to become a film star.

Marshall Mathers will play a troubled teenager from Detroit who finds his voice in hip-hop, a life story like his own.

Eminem has gained notoriety for his violent and homophobic lyrics and was questioned by police after taking what appeared to be Ecstasy pills during a concert in Manchester, where he also used a chainsaw as part of his act.

He escaped a jail sentence for carrying a concealed weapon earlier this year but is currently on probation and was warned he faces five years in prison if he re-offends.
