The pilot’s mangled body fell through the roof and into the office of the Nitza Kramer, assistant principal at the navy school, who was treated for shock.

The Lebanese army command confirmed that Nikolian had taken off without authorisation.

But an army statement said that ‘‘four Israeli fighter jets intercepted him and forced him to head south and he entered occupied Palestine’s airspace when contact with him was lost.’’
