More than 4,000 workers at Australian mining giant BHP Ltd’s iron ore and steelworks downed tools today for a 48-hour strike over work contracts, union officials said.

More than 4,000 workers at Australian mining giant BHP Ltd’s iron ore and steelworks downed tools today for a 48-hour strike over work contracts, union officials said.

Australian Worker’s Union (AWU) spokesman Andrew Whiley said the action would halt production at the company’s steelworks and coated steel plants south of Sydney.
