Afgan factions ceasefire for childrens Polio jabs
Fighters in Afghanistan’s civil war have held their fire as health workers fanned out to immunise children against polio during a temporary truce.
The ruling Taliban militia and its opposition based in the north stopped fighting to allow the vaccination of about 5.3 million children under the age of six, Asmatullah, an official with the United Nations’ World Health Organisation, said yesterday.
