OJ Simpson advises Robert Blake to avoid watching TV

OJ Simpson has appeared on TV offering advice to actor Robert Blake whose wife was shot dead.

Mr Blake's wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, was shot in her husband's car in Los Angeles on May 4 after they had been to a restaurant.

Speaking on US show Extra, OJ Simpson said Mr Blake should avoid watching television and refuse to take a lie detector test.

He said: "I know that watching TV is only going to frustrate him.

"As far as I'm concerned, this man is innocent until a jury comes back and calls him guilty."

Mr Blake said his wife was shot while he returned to the restaurant to pick up a gun he left behind. He carried the gun because he said she was concerned about her safety.

His son, Noah Blake, has appeared on CNN's Larry King Live programme defending his father.

He said: "My dad is innocent. Period. He doesn't need to prove that."

No one has yet been charged for the murder.
