Russian jets try to bomb ice from flooded river
Russian fighter jets today rained 1,100 pound bombs on ice that is jamming the Lena River in Siberia and causing widespread flooding.
Water levels had fallen yesterday after officials dynamited a 60 mile ice jam, but rains upstream sent a new surge during the night.
So the Russian air force was called in and Su-24 Fencer fighter-bombers pounded the ice with 550 and 1,100 pound bombs.
