Canadians ignore beaten, naked teenage girl
A half naked beaten teenaged girl was ignored for three hours by passers-by in a Canadian street.
The girl was lying next to a call-centre office in Montreal, naked from the waist down, after being attacked.
The office manager told staff not to call police because he "didn't want to get involved".
A man eventually phoned emergency services and police and an ambulance arrived. The girl remains in a coma.
"I'm just appalled that this could happen," said Sid Stevens, vice-president of Sun Youth, a group that rewards Good Samaritans.
"We don't maybe have to get physically involved, but we have a moral obligation to report things of this nature by calling for help."
Employees at Sitel Teleservices said they saw her lying on her back in the rain, with one sock on, naked from the waist down, her skin a pale grey.
When her arms moved, it appeared she was in pain and was trying to cover herself with her top.
Supervisor Peterson Frederick told staff not to call for help.
He has been roundly condemned by public opinion in Montreal.
