Thirty-seven Turkish special forces personnel have been killed as a military plane crashed in the south of the country.

Thirty-seven Turkish special forces personnel have been killed as a military plane crashed in the south of the country.

The plane was carrying the soldiers from the southern city of Malatya to the capital Ankara when it crashed shortly after take-off.

Malatya is 410 miles from Ankara.

Bayram Karaaslan, the mayor of Akcadag, a town near where the plane crashed, said there were no survivors.

"They are all now in pieces,"he said. "We can only collect corpses now."
