The driver of the Land Rover involved in the Selby rail disaster has been charged with causing the death of 10 people by dangerous driving.

Gary Hart, from Strubby, Lincolnshire, was released on police bail to appear before Selby Magistrates on May 17.

Ten people were killed when a GNER passenger train ploughed into a Land Rover on the railway line at Great Heck, near Selby, on February 28 this year.

The early morning train was derailed before it went on to collide with a goods train.
