An off-duty policeman was today recovering in hospital after he was stabbed a number of times with a screwdriver.

An off-duty policeman was today recovering in hospital after he was stabbed a number of times with a screwdriver.

The unnamed officer was attacked after he caught a teenager trying to break into his car parked outside his home in Wylam, Northumberland at 9.45pm last night.
