Police cracking down on a widespread child trafficking racket in India have rescued 61 young girls from an adoption home allegedly holding them illegally, officials said.

The girls, who were under six years old, were rescued late yesterday from the Precious Moments Home, said Ajay Jain, administrator of the Ranga Reddy district in the southern Andhra Pradesh state.
