British police charge two with murder

A man and a woman have been charged with the murder of Liz Sherlock who was killed after being run over by a car driven by thieves who stole her handbag, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Jackie Moorhouse, 23, unemployed from West Hampstead and Mark Wooley, 35, a plasterer and tiler from Pentonville, both north London, were charged by detectives last night.

They will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Costume designer Mrs Sherlock, 42, died on Bank Holiday Monday after suffering horrific crush injuries after she chased the handbag thieves out of Euston station.

Mrs Sherlock, of Chiswick, west London, worked on BBC programmes including Last of the Summer Wine, It’s A Knockout and the Royal Variety Performance.
