Police check CCTV film after handbag snatch victim's death

Police are analysing CCTV footage from the area around Euston station where a woman died after being knocked down by handbag thieves.

Liz Sherlock, of Chiswick, west London, was sitting in a cafe in the station with her husband yesterday morning when her bag was snatched.

The 42-year-old gave chase and clung to the bonnet of the thieves' car before slipping under its wheels in front of passers-by.

In a statement read by police, her husband Peter described the freelance costume designer as a bubbly person with bundles of energy.

He said she was a brave and courageous person, and could not describe his loss.

Mr Sherlock said he was deeply shocked and reiterated the police's appeal for information regarding his wife's death.

He said they had been married for six years and described Liz as a woman who liked painting, lace making, and travel - especially to Egypt.

At a press conference held in London, it was revealed Mrs Sherlock had worked on programmes like Last of the Summer Wine, Chucklevision and It's a Knockout.

She had just finished her first feature film.
