Pop star Jay Kay in night club fracas

Pop star Jay Kay has been involved in an alleged fracas outside a nightclub, according to reports today.

The Jamiroquai frontman and former partner of TV presenter Denise Van Outen was said to have sworn at two female fans after leaving a London club in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was also involved in a confrontation with a photographer before speeding off in a Mercedes from which a vodka bottle was thrown.

The bottle smashed the rear window of a car parked near the Attica Club in London’s West End.

Jay Kay and Ms Van Outen, who is appearing in the West End hit musical Chicago, were engaged to be married 14 months ago but split in February.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said today: ‘‘Police were informed of an alleged criminal damage and assault in Kingly Street, W1.

‘‘A male allegedly threw a bottle at a car breaking the window and allegedly assaulted a photographer. The alleged victim of the assault declined medical aid.

‘‘There were no arrests and inquiries were continuing.’’
