Titanic menu sells for nearly £17,000
A breakfast menu from the Titanic has sold for £16,750 at auction.
The menu, taken from the liner by passenger Stanley May before he left the vessel at Queenstown, Ireland, was bought by a US collector.
It was one of several items for auction in Southampton.
Bidders heard how Mr May took the menu as a souvenir, leaving the ship before she sank on her maiden voyage to New York.
Also on sale, were a postcard Mr May sent his daughter which fetched £5,500, a hymn sheet which sold for £7,000 and a pin cushion bought on board in the barber's shop which made £36,000.
