Foot-and-mouth outbreak may be over in UK by June

Measures to wipe out foot-and-mouth disease are beginning to bite, the British Government's chief scientific adviser said.

Fresh projections show the outbreak - which this afternoon claimed its 1000th case - could be significantly stifled by June.
