Japanese anger as US submarine cruises into port

A US submarine cruised into a southwestern Japanese port without advance notice, sending US officials scrambling to sooth angry Japanese lawmakers.

US military officials had informed the Sasebo City government that the nuclear submarine Chicago would anchor outside the port yesterday for a routine port call, said Keiichi Matsuda, a city spokesman said.
