Holland suffers first foot-and-mouth case

The Dutch government said today it had confirmed the first cases of foot-and-mouth in the Netherlands, making it the second country on the European continent to detect the swift spreading disease.

Tests concluded that four cows had contracted the disease on a farm near Olst in the eastern part of the country.
