'I lied to save friend from trouble', soccer star tells jury
Leeds United footballer Michael Duberry today admitted in court that he lied repeatedly to police in an attempt to stop his best friend Jonathan Woodgate from "getting into trouble" over an attack on an Asian student.
Duberry, 25, has told Hull Crown Court that Woodgate admitted to him that he had been involved in a fight with Asians on the night Sarfraz Najeib was punched and beaten senseless.
