Foot and mouth latest: UK total 222

Five new cases of foot and mouth have been confirmed by the British MAFF.

Seventeen new outbreaks have been announced today, including another two announced in the Welsh Assembly, but not yet confirmed by MAFF.

MAFF has confirmed 220 cases, including one previously known outbreak in Northern Ireland. The further two cases announced in the Welsh Assembly bring the overall total to 222.

The most recent cases announced by MAFF were in Llanidloes, Powys; Wigton, Cumbria; Shebbear, Beaworthy, Devon; Silloth, Cumbria; and Monkleigh, Bideford, Devon.
