Three more foot-and-mouth cases confirmed in Wales
A case of foot-and-mouth has been confirmed at an abattoir used to slaughter healthy animals, according to a Welsh Assembly spokesman.
The case was confirmed at the Hamer International Abattoir in Llanidloes in mid Wales.
On Monday, a farmer was criticised for taking sheep with foot-and-mouth symptoms to the abattoir even though farmers have to declare their animals have no symptoms if they are being killed for meat.
A further case has also been confirmed at the farm involved in that incident in Llanfair Caereinion, Powys.
One other case has also been confirmed at Welshpool, mid Wales, taking the total number of confirmed cases in Wales to 12.
