EU bans French livestock exports: reports

There are reports that European Union vets have banned the export of French livestock susceptible to foot and mouth.

A ban has also reportedly been put on milk, meat and meat products from the Mayenne district of north west France.

The French Agriculture Ministry has confirmed the country's - and continental Europe's - first case of foot and mouth in Mayenne.

The bans will remain in force until March 27 and are due to be reviewed next week.
