Nine more cases of foot-and-mouth confirmed

Nine more cases of foot-and-mouth were confirmed today, including the first outbreak in the West Midlands, said Britain's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The other eight new cases, which have brought the total number of outbreaks to 173, were in either cattle or sheep at farms in counties where the disease was already known to have spread.
