Jack Dee fails in bid to escape from Big Brother house
Jack Dee was marched back into the Big Brother house by security guards after an escape bid failed.
Dee decided to dig a hole in the garden with a rake to try to escape. He then decided to try the garden gate, which was open, and he slipped into the night.
Security guards found him lying face down by a portable office in the Big Brother compound. He had covered his face in mud for camouflage.
A spokeswoman said the comic made his escape when fellow contestants Claire Sweeney, Anthea Turner and Keith Duffy were in the hot tub.
A Big Brother spokesman said: "As he had not left the compound he would not be thrown out of the show. He may face some disciplinary action."
Fellow contestant Chris Eubank, who last night became the first to be evicted, today spoke of his short-lived experience in the house. He expressed particular concern for Anthea Turner who he said had broken down in tears. He described her as "fragile."
Eubank said: "At one point Anthea, Vanessa (Feltz) and me were talking at the table. They were both talking beneath their breath and very quietly when tears started to come out. At that point I left the table, I felt so sorry for her. We were talking about the public reaction to her, I believe.
"She said she had packed her bags and I said: 'No way are you going anywhere."'
Turner's mood should improve as it emerged she has not been nominated in the second round of evictions. The celebrities voted for Dee and Feltz. Eubank's eviction will be shown on television tonight while Dee's attempted escape will be shown tomorrow night.
