Outlook bleaker as foot-and-mouth cases grow

Britain's farmers are facing weeks more of foot-and-mouth misery as Britain's top vet warned the crisis will still last a long time and the number of outbreaks continues to rise.

Chief Veterinary Officer Jim Scudamore effectively ruled out any hopes of an early reprieve as the number of cases topped 100 for the first time yesterday.
