A Continental Airlines Boeing 757 jet has been forced to return to Glasgow Airport after a warning light on the flight deck indicated smoke may have been in the cargo hold.

The plane, with 140 people on board, was 150 miles out over the Atlantic on its way to Newark, New Jersey, when it was forced to return. A full emergency was declared, but the aircraft landed safely at 1.45pm.
