Latest US high school shooting over girl's 'grudge with classmate'

A 14-year-old US schoolgirl is believed to have shot her classmate after a long-standing dispute.

Police say the victim is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot in the right shoulder.

Kimberly Marchese, who's 13, was shot at Bishop Neumann school in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

A suspect has been questioned by police and has been to be taken to a juvenile facility.

Police spokesman David Ritter said: "This is not a random act of violence and as far as I understand there are not other targets for this violence."

It is not known where the gun which was used in the attack came from.

The school has about 230 students mainly aged 12 to 18.

Williamsport is in central Pennsylvania, about 160 miles north west of Philadelphia.
