The roof of a coal mine has collapsed in India, killing six miners.

The accident occurred on Monday when 39 miners were working in the Durgapur mines, in Chandrapur.

Six miners were killed instantly. Another 33 miners escaped.

They were working 600 feet below the ground.

The mine has been closed as officials try to find out the cause of the collapse.
