Lottery winner claims £3m jackpot at last minute
A lottery player has come forward at the 11th hour to claim a £3m fortune.
The ticket-holder had until 11pm on Monday to contact the National Lottery line to claim the £3,011,065 winnings or the jackpot would have been donated to good causes.
The ticket was bought for the draw on Wednesday September 6 last year in the South Hertfordshire area, and the winning numbers were: 6, 7, 11, 23, 32, 44.
A Camelot spokeswoman said: "We've received a claim, I cannot give out any further details all I can say is a claim has come forward.
"We've spent a lot of time urging players to look for those hidden-away tickets to see if they're the rightful owners of the prize.
"The jackpot was going to be the biggest-ever to have gone to good causes - but they have certainly cut it fine."
The claim would be treated as serious and genuine and the normal checks made by Camelot's winner's services and security departments would now be made, she said.
The biggest unclaimed amount was £2m, won by a ticket bought in the Kingston-upon-Hull area in 1996.
Since the Lottery began in 1994, players have lost out on more than £375m in unclaimed prize money which has gone to good causes, while at present a further £37m is still waiting to be claimed.
