Baby found drunk on wine

A six-month-old baby was found drunk after being fed wine by her mother.

When care workers in Uitsig, South Africa, found the youngster she was five times over the legal alcohol limit.

The baby had been fed from a five litre plastic bottle of cheap wine.

She was eventually returned home by social workers, despite claims her mother was continually drunk.

Emergency care worker Maliga Naidoo told the Cape Argus it was one of hundreds of child-abuse cases being dealt with by local volunteers.
