Miner trapped for six days found alive in India

A coal miner trapped underground for six days in India has been found alive.

He was among 30 workers unable to escape from a mine near Dhanbad when it flooded last Friday.

Another 65 were quickly rescued and one body has been found.

Fifty-year-old Salim Ansari was found floating unconscious in the upper level of the mine. A hospital spokesman said: "He remembers his name but is in a highly traumatised state."

The Bagdihi mine is being pumped dry so rescuers can find the remaining miners. They hope some were trapped at a higher level and may still be alive.
