Kidnapped stepdaughter rescued in Philippines
The six-year-old stepdaughter of a British man has been rescued after she was kidnapped in the Philippines.
Eiman April Grant was taken from her home in the remote southern island of Basilan three weeks ago.
Her Scottish stepfather, Douglas Grant, 50, of Inverness, Scotland, is said to be delighted by developments.
The child has been freed by Philippine military personnel and taken to a hospital in a nearby city for checks.
Mr Grant returned to Inverness last Friday following a 10-day visit to the Philippines to assess the situation himself.
His Filipino wife, Mina, 43, remained on the island of Basilan, where Eiman was said to be held.
Douglas Grant had settled in the Philippines with his wife, the couple's daughter Khadija, and Eiman, his wife's daughter from a previous marriage.
He returned to Britain last August to care for his elderly parents, and his family were waiting to join him in the UK when Eiman was snatched.
