Bulger killers would be at risk - solicitor

The solicitor for James Bulger killer Jon Venables has welcomed the gagging order.

"I hope this means they will be intergrated safely," John Dickinson told reporters outside court.

He said he believed there would be a genuine risk to either killer if their identities were made public.

"The element of risk gives rise to concern. The court heard evidence about that issue."

But Mr Dickinson conceded the fight by media organisation to reveal the killers idenities would go on in higher courts.

Asked if he had anything to say to James Bulger's family, he replied, "I don't think I have the right to say anything to the Bulger family.

"I think the judge made it quite clear, that everyone involved in this case accepts it is a terrible incident and a terrible death."
